Round Three - 2 Days of Thunder 2022
What an awesome weekend of racing for Round 3 of the JMC Performance Australian Trans-Am 2022 championship.
Celebrating the life and racing passion of the recently passed Mike Collins his #22 Mustang sat proudly on display outside the Australian Trans-Am garages all weekend. A great tribute to a man who is certainly missed especially in the Motorsport community.
In the 5 Litre class Chant #35, Trapp #54 and Spencer #44 (6 Litre) had a brilliant battle all weekend treating the spectators to lots of close quarters racing and constant position changes. Prefontaine in the #21 had a solid weekend at times mixing it with some of the 6 Litre cars taking multiple class race wins but missing one race due to a technical issue.
Crossley #565, a new addition to the @Australian TransAm family this year, had a very productive weekend. Despite still learning the car and being a little down on power (as they’re still waiting on parts to build their race engine) it was a very strong weekend of racing for the #565 team.
After 5 entertaining races consistency paid off for Crossley #565 taking the top step first in the 5 litre class, whilst Trapp #54 battled it out for 2nd with Prefontaine #21 who came in 3rd.
In the 6 Litre class, Bishop #48 and Palmer #42 were locked in a battle from the start with only tenths separating them in qualifying. They would go on to swap positions multiple times throughout the weekend in some very exciting racing.
A tough weekend for the Schulte team in the #6 Javelin with gremlins resulting in multiple DNF’s throughout the weekend.
After a spin in race 1 and a brilliant drive back through the field a consistent weekend for Tenkate in the #69 Mustang taking 2nd in each race.
Up the front it was a spectacular showing from Hudson in his first run with Australian TransAm. The welcome return of the the #52 Mustang (previously run by the late Brett “Curro”) could not have gone better with Hudson having a perfect weekend.
After a huge weekend of racing Bishop #48 got the better of Palmer #42 to take 3rd, Tenkate #69 took 2nd and a clean sweep from Hudson #52 in the number one spot.
2 Days of Thunder 2022 was a great weekend on and off track. It was also amazing to see so many spectators out watching the action.
